Fall-Inspired TabletopFall Tip: Create a fall harvest picnic. Set up the patio or deck to enjoy some outdoor living, before the cold weather arrives.
Add warm colors and soft finishes to create a space, where family and guests will want to spend time. Start with a picnic table and add fall-inspired items, like colorful fall leaves, branches, gourds and pinecones.
A table covering of brown and gold felt with scalloped edges softens the picnic table and incorporates two favorite fall colors.
Materials and Tools:
brown felt fabric
gold felt fabric
scissors
Steps:
1. Cut the brown and gold felt to desired length and width for your table, allowing for a reasonable drop on all four sides.
2. Use scissors to cut medium scallop edges all the way around the brown felt.
3. Cut fall-themed shapes or circles into the table top area of the brown felt.
4. Place the gold felt on the table first and set the brown felt on top of it. The scalloped edges and cut shapes in the brown felt exposes the gold felt underneath.
For saving time when serving, try individual woven trays that hold the placemat, dinnerware, utensils and glasses for each guest. To add a little fall, cut leaf shapes out of the felt and tie the silverware together with raffia, brown felt and autumn greenery.
