Decorate Snow People

Welcome some new members to your family this winter with some snow and a few imaginative decorations. German statice makes great frizzy hair on a snow person.

In the middle of winter, when flakes are flying, there's no need to complain. Instead of digging out, why not dig in? A little snow and a lot of produce can bring characters to life.

The key is creativity and imagination. One example is a teenage boy with spiked hair made of green beans. Olives make excellent eyes, and so do peppers. Make a ruby necklace with a strand of strawberries. Ornamental kale makes a beautiful gown. Use pearl onions for fine jewelry, or create a 14-carrot necklace. Ornamental grass is great for hair--on a girl or even a dog. Fennel can provide a good hair day. Or use a "bun" to cover a bad hair day. German statice also provides good hair for a fashionable snow lady. And a mushroom makes a nice ear.

There's no limit to what garden treasures can add to these friendly faces!
