Each designer has met with the couple to get a feel for their style and goals. Designer Kim Martin has created a plan that updates the backyard and expands the entertaining and playing areas. Billy Derian plans to transform the Kagans' backyard into an exotic, tropical retreat. Finally, John Hourian envisions the space as a lush garden in a parklike setting.
After a week of reviewing the three unique plans, the Kagans choose Martin's expansive design. The space that once held an oversized pool and unusable play area is now an elegant and inviting summer retreat that flows from one area to another. With a careful blend of interesting materials and a great design, Martin was able to completely transform the Kagans' backyard.
