The blaring, hot sun is no longer a problem on this patio. Two overlapping sail-shaped canopies not only provide shade, they add privacy and definition to the dining area. A tension bracket is used to pull the metal cables tight, so the canopies won’t blow around in the wind.

The redwood panels are made into a hinged door over the electrical meters, so they can still be easily accessed. Redwood is slightly more expensive than other types of wood, but when treated with an oil-based sealer, its beauty and durability are perfect for this application.
