Carlsbad Charm

Wendy and Eric Deneroff have lived in their Spanish-style home in Carlsbad, California, for more than two years. Although the elegant interior suits their styles perfectly, the backyard is not a useful space for them or their two small children. They'd like to create a shaded patio area, a built-in barbecuing area for entertaining, a play area for the kids — all within a design that maximizes their spectacular view. Up to this challenge are three capable design teams — Kimo Rusing, Andrea Sills and the team of Lois Mancuso and Dominic Masiello.
