Pat and Sue Larkin's flat-roofed home offers plenty of room and comfort for them and their three children. After remodeling the inside of the house, they're ready to create an equally functional and fun space in their backyard. Right now, there's just a pool surrounded by an ugly, wrought iron fence and bordered by an uninspired lawn. Pat and Sue call in the experts to design a place where they can relax, play and enjoy the sunshine.

Pat and Sue love the size of their rectangular yard but it's not very inviting or functional. There's no patio space, and the pool is surrounded by an outdated wrought iron fence. There are some plantings but they all seem to be in the wrong place, except for the large pine tree which the couple wants to keep. Pat and Sue want their backyard to be the hot spot for friends and family to gather and have a good time, but right now it's far from inviting.
