A Garden With Southern Charm

Diane Kerr would like to turn her ordinary front yard into the grand setting her large Colonial house deserves, something that would capture the gracious feel of the old South.

She wants to redo her front porch in materials more in keeping with the house's architecture, improve the access to the house by refurbishing both the path and driveway and install attractive landscaping that won't require a lot of effort to keep up. She plans to spend $30,000 on labor and materials.

Kerr is convinced that the right design for the front yard could play up the architecture of her house and make it feel more welcoming, but she knows she'll need professional help to get it. Up to the challenge are Mark Sutter, John Hourian and Donna Lynn.
