Updated Retro Kitchen

Inanna and Ryan Bantu are a hip couple who really like color and funky design styles. They tried to design their kitchen by painting it bright Caribbean colors and removing the overhead cabinetry to open up the space, but they really missed the mark. They are looking to the 24 Hour Design team to give them the cool updated retro kitchen they have in mind.

This contemporary 1950s-style kitchen matches the style of the home, but doesn't function properly. First, because this is a small space, the bold coral and royal blue colors actually work against each other and make the space seem un-unified. Second, and more importantly, there is a major lack of storage. Designer Angelo Surmelis, design assistant Wanda Colón and carpenter Chris Ashe are ready to tackle the challenge of getting this space in better working order in just one day.
