Hide CaptionShow CaptionKathy and Rob help transform their parents' dark and dated kitchen into a clean and contemporary space.
To bring the kitchen into the new millennium, hosts Andrika Lawren and Emmanuel Belliveau help Kathy and Rob remove the layers of wallpaper and paint the walls with fresh tones of gray and cream. The old linoleum is covered with attractive maple laminate flooring, and the dark, dated cabinets are completely refaced with modern Shaker-style doors. The lower cabinets are finished in a contemporary black and the upper ones are a light almond color. Stainless steel hardware is added to complete the look. The '70s striped countertops are replaced with a contemporary acrylic solid surface.
