NYC Weekend Kitchen

The centerpiece of the kitchen is this gorgeous marble island. The giant slab is nine feet long, almost three inches thick and weighs more than 1,000 pounds. When it came time to deliver the slab to the ninth-floor apartment, it wouldn't fit into the elevator.The marble had to be taken back to the supplier and made shorter in order to get it into the apartment. To complete the look, glass panels that match the cabinetry are incorporated onto the island's base.
