Inspiration Repairs Kitchen Challenges

Hosts Matt Fox and Shari Hiller bring their decorating sense to three very different kitchens: a traditional space in need of more comfort, a large and cluttered contemporary kitchen and one rich with Tuscan flavor but in need of more storage, preparation space and new furniture.

The three styles allow the designers to come up with some interesting ideas and projects so there's something for everyone.

Traditional Kitchen

The owners of this home love to cook and entertain, but space is an issue. It's obvious why visitors want to spend time in here, but little counter space and an uncomfortable booth make it hard for chef and guests alike.

Some seat cushions, a simple valance made from a tablecloth, interesting artwork and a new stainless-steel island pull the room together and really add warmth.

Contemporary Kitchen

This contemporary kitchen has clean-lined cherry cabinets with stainless-steel hardware, and it's the hub of this home. Mail plus clutter from work and school builds up on the counters, which is the opposite of the sleek look this family enjoys.

Layers of softness within the contemporary style such as simple window toppers, an area rug and a seat cushion make the space more inviting. Office supplies used to organize household items tie in with the style and clear the clutter at the same time.

Tuscany Kitchen

The Tuscan style is beautiful in this kitchen, but the family room portion of it needs to be more comfortable and welcoming.

Plush and functional furniture, new lighting, wine storage and large accessories make the area much more interesting.
