Terada's measurements were off by a few inches, so one of the cabinets she ordered didn't fit. She had to scrap her plan to move the appliances and sink. Nevertheless, the new light, linear cabinets contrast well with the darker laminate flooring and the new white countertops with black edges. In fact, the final design includes seven different woods for an earthy, homey feel. Also at the last minute, Terada decided to paint the kitchen and dining room walls the color of champagne ice.
