Chicago residents Carol and Ewan Crews found their perfect home one night after leaving their favorite hangout. They walked out the door of the local pub and discovered that the building next door was for sale. Next thing they knew, they were the proud owners of an old barbershop and the apartment above it.

At first, their dream home was split into two apartments. When their daughter Iona came into the picture, they decided to renovate the building into a single-family home. With the help of designer Douglas Jerdee, they were able to transform the lower floor into an amazing, family-friendly living room and kitchen.
