The cool-blue and rich-brown color palette work beautifully together to make a sophisticated and casual setting. New valances in the breakfast nook make the ceiling look higher and whole room seem bigger. The valances are made from medium-density fiberboard because it is lighter than woodetter for hanging on a wall. After a coat of dark brown paint, tape is used on the valances to outline stripes which are then painted beige. The finish on the new dining table matches the darkest wood grain in the cabinets and contrasts wonderfully against the taupe floor. The new rolling cart acts as an island and provides additional storage and counter space.
