Julia Black, the assistant designer on HGTV’s Pure Design, has always had an interest in the arts. A competitive ballet dancer as a child, she went on to choreograph jazz and hip-hop performances at Queen’s University, where she studied art history and the psychology of color. Julia developed an interest in design during her time at Toronto’s International Academy of Design and Technology. She then went on to intern with celebrity designer Kimberley Seldon and at Canadian design magazines such as Style at Home and Wish.
