Wood-Burning Wonderland Kitchen

Groveman's wood-burning oven is the heart of the outdoor kitchen she calls "Wonderland."

Radio host and cookbook author Lauren Groveman started building her outdoor kitchen in 1998 when she ordered a wood-burning oven. She didn't know installing the oven included the use of 5,000 pounds of concrete, but the oven went in and then sat there for two years until Groveman got the courage to fire it up.

Groveman's kitchen includes a smoker and a charcoal grill of her own design.

The oven was designed to mimic the style of Groveman's house just outside New York City. She considers the outdoor area to be an extension of the house and enjoys entertaining groups of family and friends on the weekends.
