Angle brackets add an extra measure of safety to elevated play equipment. Here’s how to install them:
Materials and Tools:
workbench
C-clamp
spring clamp
circular saw
power drill with 3/16-inch bit
paddle bit
socket bit
combo pocket-cutter bit
carpenter’s square
pencil
socket wrench
safety glasses
dust mask
pressure-treated 2x4-inch boards
lag bolts
screws
washers
Steps:
1. Cut supports from 2x4’s by making 45-degree-angle cuts on each end.
2. Pre-drill holes in the ends of the brackets for lag screws and washers. Use a paddle bit to cut pockets for the lag screws.
3. Drill all the way through the lumber to clear the way for the lag screws.
4. Clamp the first bracket to the side of the play set, line it up so the end is flush with the support post, and pre-drill through the holes in the bracket and into the support post and structure.
