When the Reynolds family decided to build their new home, they faced a tricky problem. How could they bring light into multiple rooms without cutting too many holes in the roof or installing a bunch of windows? The answer was a new kind of skylight technology. It delivers sunlight to multiple locations in the home from just one opening in the roof. The secret is highly reflective tubing. From the central skylight you can add up to six arms that will carry sunlight to the hall, bath or another favorite room. In this week's field notes, we'll meet the family, see how the skylight technology is installed in their home and learn if the Reynolds are satisfied with their beams of light.
See how Fix It Up! hosts Pat Simpson and Jodi Marks installed a tunnel skylight.
