Holly Hudson and Christopher Burg are both graphic designers with a real love of nature. But they feel their yard doesn’t really reflect who they are. Designer Kellee McDonald uses gravel instead of sod to fill in the yard, creating a unique look and blurring the lines between the driveway and the yard itself.

Here’s how they accomplish it:

  • tear out lawn and landscaping
  • demo whole driveway
  • put in large white pavers
  • put in a dry creekbed
  • plant beach type grasses
  • plant lavender for sachet projects
  • install basin for downspout chain
  • attach metal address numbers
  • plant pots on porch
  • windchimes
