Engineer Stuart Bedell was looking for a project to occupy his time when he retired. He got a bit more than he bargained for when he moved into a former freight depot in Brenham, Texas.

Located on Main Street, the freight train depot still has trains pass by on its tracks just a few feet from the brick building. Bedell's girlfriend pitched in to help and they both discovered they had a lot to learn about renovating old freight depots. Through the mishaps and mistakes, they pieced together a whimsical, eclectic home that includes a real railroad crossing, a staircase made from Amish plow handles and an original cargo door that serves as a 500 pound window shade.
