Matt Fox offers these tips for protecting wood floors:
- Experts say the best padding for a fabric-backed area rug is a 1/4 inch combination pad with a fiber top and breathable rubber bottom. This protects the back of the area rug, which in turn keeps it intact, and the rubber backing keeps the rug from sliding.
- Another way to protect wood floors is to place heavy furniture on felt pads. Stick them to the bottom of the foot or just the bottom edge of a piece to help keep it from making indentations in the floor and to help slide a piece a bit for cleaning rather than lifting it.
