Steps:
1. Sweep the loose dust and dirt. Scrub the floors with a stiff brush and a degreaser/cleaner to remove the stained areas. After rinsing well, go back over the entire floor with the same product, brushing it around using a push broom.
2. Push a rubber squeegee along the floor and pool the liquid into smaller areas that can be vacuumed up with a wet/dry shop vacuum.
3. Muriatic acid is a great way to clean a cement floor, but be careful with it. Use caution by wearing a respirator and work in a well-ventilated area. Mix a gallon of water in a plastic watering can with 12 ounces of 32-percent muriatic acid. Use the watering can to sprinkle the mixture evenly over a 10' x 10' area and scrub it in with the push broom. Rinse the area with cool water, squeegee the liquid to one spot, and then use the wet/dry vacuum to clean it up. To dispose of the acid solution in the vacuum, dilute it with twice the amount of water that's in there and pour the contents down the drain with running water. Let the floor dry overnight.
4. The product used to paint the floor is a two-part epoxy applied by a professional. Make sure to read the instructions carefully and follow all of the safety precautions if you plan on doing this step yourself (wear gloves, eye and lung protection as well as rubber boots). However, by doing the preparation and cleaning steps yourself, you can save some money.
