Opening up a Rancher

Before, front

The owners bought their home specifically for its beautiful wooded lot. The home itself is a nice size, but its floor plan is closed-off and prevents an easy flow of traffic. The goals of the remodel were to open the floor plan and update the interior and exterior.

After, front

Architect Mark Kawell's design opened the upstairs floor plan and finished the downstairs for additional bedroom and living space. The exterior changes include a small rear addition and lots of character-adding details. The exterior received small changes that made a big difference and include a more prominent front entry. Highlights of the remodel include the spacious living room and luxurious master bath.
