Karen and Dave Herz recently bought this home for their family with the intention of remodeling it to fit their needs. Designer Kem Eva Thelig and Daniel Owens, who specialize in modern design and feng shui, respectively, will team up to give the house a warm look with clean modern lines. The exterior makeover uses elements of Asian and modern design. Some of the highlights include new doors and windows, and a striking hardscape.
Here's how they accomplish it:
- tear out the junipers and trim back the magnolia tree
- put in a new wood front door with sidelight windows for a modern look
- earth toned plaster goes in around the front door
- the old windows come out and new clerestory windows cased in aluminum go up
