The Nathaniel Russell House reflects the lifestyle of a wealthy Charleston shipping merchant at a time when the city was thriving in its "Golden Age" of commerce.

This 1808 home is considered one of the finest examples of neoclassical architecture in America. Design cues include the home's symmetrical shape, iron balconies and free-flying three-story staircase.

The home stands today as it did when it was built, with grand oval rooms and opulent detailing. Truly a showcase for a man at the height of his powers during Charleston’s shipping era.
