This Washington carriage house looks like a tiny jewel nestled among neighboring 19th century row houses. With its copper cupola, hipped roof and barn doors, there’s no confusing this house with the more traditional living spaces in this Dupont Circle neighborhood. Homeowner Jeff Simpson has a penchant for funky, retro style.
He was looking for a space with high ceilings and a convenient location when he came across the abandoned carriage house. With help from architect Dudley Cannada he transformed the compact house, creating a 600-square-foot living space with interesting angles and colorful decorations. The look features retro furniture, colorful artwork and a cheerful, funky feel.
