Homeowners Anne and Paul Mori want to find a way to rejuvenate their home, while maintaining the traditional style they like, as well as meeting the approval of their neighborhood association’s design review committee. Designer Mark Sylva incorporates a new color scheme, along with fixing the patchy garden and dark entryway. Here's how they accomplish it:

• powerwash the old paint & grime from the house
  
• new paint: pale blue-green for the body, cream trim, darker green for the "coins" on the side of the house, and a yellow door to brighten the entry
  
• remove the randomly placed bushy shrubs, and install a new lawn with retaining walls for terracing
  
• new plants in a blue-grey color scheme, including grasses and sage
  
• gutters get rerouted and placed more discreetly on the sides of the house
  
• install a new irrigation system to keep the landscaping healthy
  
• metal stairway railing gets repainted
  
• new leaded glass windows go in on either side of the front door
  
• brushed nickel door knocker, mailslot and housenumbers
