Lessons Learned: Surviving Construction
*Some of the more challenging remodeling moments for Nick and Stasi happened during the demolition phase, where constant hammering and sawing whipped up 100 year-old dust that seemed to settle on everything. To help minimize dust, the Bottinellis refrained from using their furnace, which tends to spread dust even further, and maintained plastic barriers between the construction areas and living areas.
*Be aware of the time of year when undertaking a renovation. The Bottinellis remodel took place during the winter months, which led to many snow delays on exterior work. Nick would also have to wake up frequently during the night to clear snow off the tarp covering the Bottinellis roof.
