Four Mile House

Four Mile House is the oldest house in Denver and dates to the days when the city literally was the Wild West. Built in 1859, the log and clapboard house was four miles from what was then the rough mining camp of Denver. The house served as a stage stop, inn and tavern for travelers along the Cherokee Trail headed to Denver. With the arrival of the train, the owners turned from innkeepers to farmers. They prospered and in 1883 added a brick addition to their rustic home.
