Clem Johnson has been restoring and rebuilding vintage cars since he was a teenager, so when he was looking for a place where he could pursue his hobby, an old Sinclair gas station seemed just the ticket.
But after he and Kim noticed how much time they were spending at the station, they decided to remodel and expand a bit and make it a home.
The exterior is unusually charming for a filling station. Johnson painted it in authentic white and green colors and even located a classic Sinclair sign along with original parking lot lights. An airy kitchen expansion features a curved glass block wall. The old restrooms were turned into a large walk-in shower and a powder room. The only problem is that the home looks so authentic that occasionally would-be customers drop by for service.
