  • Empty egg cartons make great packing material (figure A). They act as shock absorbers for fragile items.

  • Use an empty egg carton as a boot tree (figure B).

  • Use egg cartons to separate things in a junk drawer.

  • Store your earrings and jewelry in egg cartons. You can even spray paint them to match the inside of your drawers.

  • Use an empty foam egg carton as an emergency ice cube tray (figure C). Do not use these in drinks for food-safety reasons, but they can be used to keep a cooler cold.

  • An egg carton is a great way to freeze meatballs individually (figure D). Just place them in each compartment, seal the carton and put it in the freezer.

  • Hide small valuables such as jewelry in an egg carton (figure E) and leave it in the refrigerator.
