In 1903, the skies in San Francisco were often smoky and full of pollution. For a young Ansel Adams and his parents this meant moving to the edge of the city where the air was fresh and the views breathtaking.
Their new home, a Swiss chalet above Baker Beach, would inspire the future photographer in his art and when he designed his own home next door in 1929.
