Design a Stunning Tabletop

Guests spend most of their time at the reception, so a stunning tabletop is a must. Keep all the elements in mind when planning, including the linens, napkins, charger plates, china, drinking glasses and chairs.

When choosing linens, consider your floral design and what other elements will be on the table. Don't make the tabletop too busy or overcrowded and make sure all your colors blend.

A plate should be the back drop or the palette upon which the drama of the meal is played.

The advantage of using white china is the design, emblems or color of the plates doesn't limit you when designing the rest of the table.

Menu cards can really enhance your table setting. To display them, fold the napkins to form a little pocket the menu card can slide into.

Menu cards can either be placed at each individual place setting or calligraphy the menu on small easels at various places around the table, so the guests can refer to them throughout the meal.

Table numbers are a great way to express your creativity. Instead of traditional table numbers, try naming the tables after your favorite songs, places you've been together or any other personal experiences you share as a couple.

Have Fun and Different Food

Catering and food takes about 50 percent of your budget, so take your time in deciding what to serve.

Food is one of the main reasons why weddings are such a phenomenon right now. Try some creative food design by arranging tiny individual salads on Asian spoons or serving hours'dourves in martini glasses. It's all about beautiful and unique presentation!

Ice sculptures are still popular as a decorative item and can really enhance the mood of your reception. Try a martini luge or an ice bar to add a different look to your event.

Signature drinks are also big this year. Pick your favorite drink and share it with your guests in fun glasses!
