Hungarian Stocking

Materials and Tools:

disappearing ink pens
small sharp scissors
craft glue
wool felt (white and red)
pinking shears
scrap paper
black marker
blue painter's tape

Steps:

1. Cut a stocking shape out of two pieces of red felt.

2. Draw the chosen design onto paper using a black marker (the most interesting shapes are continuous with somewhat abstract flower and leaf shapes). Place the white felt over the design and tape it in place. Hold it up to a window and trace over the design using disappearing ink pens.

3. Carefully cut the designs out. This will take some time so work slowly and precisely Use craft glue to attach the white designs onto the red stocking front.

4. Once the front panel is done, add a felt loop; pin the front and back together, and then top-stitch them. Use decorative pinking shears to scallop or zigzag the edges.
