Materials and Tools:
hardcover book (thick enough to hold the gift)
ruler
pencil or marker
box cutter
spray adhesive or craft glue
decorative paper
decorative ribbon (same width as book's thickness)
Steps:
1. Open book's front cover. Using a ruler, measure in 1 inch on all four sides to create a 1-inch border. This area is the portion of the book that will be cut away to form the box.
2. Lay ruler next to marked lines to create a guide. Using a box cutter, cut out marked rectangle to create a hole in the center of the book, making sure to cut away from yourself. Continue cutting out pages until the box area is deep enough to hold the gift.
3. Starting at the back of the book, glue pages together with spray adhesive or craft glue. Continue gluing pages together until the cutout pages have formed solid walls. Glue wide decorative ribbon onto the three paper sides of the book.
