Energizer Smoothie
Ingredients:
1 cup orange segments
1/2 cup grapefruit segments
1/2 cup orange sherbet
1/2 cup strong-brewed Earl Grey tea (2 bags per cup)
ice cubes
Preparation: Combine ingredients in blender. This is great before a workout — you get the energy without the caffeine jitters.
14-Carrot Smoothie
Ingredients:
1/2 cup soft silken tofu
1 cup low-fat vanilla yogurt
1/2 cup grated carrots
1/4 tsp. grated fresh ginger
pinch of salt
12 cup chilled carrot juice
2 Tbs. orange juice concentrate
1 Tbs. lemon juice
Preparation: Combine ingredients in the blender.
C-Breeze Cold Buster Smoothie
Ingredients:
1 cup diced kiwi
1-3/4 cup diced cantaloupe
1 cup orange sherbet
Preparation: Combine ingredients in the blender.
Tips
- Store fruit that is nearly past its prime (speckled bananas are a good example) in a plastic zippered bag in the freezer so it is ready to go when you want make a smoothie.
- Blend a smoothie and freeze it. Take it with you for later, and when you are ready to drink it, it will have thawed but still be nice and slushy. This is great for kids headed to a ball practice.
