Hide CaptionShow CaptionKenya's favors tie into the theme of the wedding inspired by African culture because the bags are made of kente cloth and other African fabrics. All About
The kente cloth's triangular-shaped pattern symbolizes unity and strength. The favor bags had a bookmark, a candle and a broom. The broom was included because when slaves could not get married, instead of having a traditional wedding, they would jump over a broom to signify their marriage. The broom symbolizes the sweeping away of the old and the welcoming of the new.
