Historic African-American Towns
This a one-hour special tells the inspiring stories of six towns founded for and by African-Americans. From Eatonville, Fla., birthplace of legendary writer, Zora Neale Hurston, to Idlewild, the Black Eden of Michigan, where legendary performers like Louis Armstrong and Sarah Vaughn performed to sellout crowds, we'll take viewers on an unforgettable journey not only into the heart of these towns, but into the lives of the people who call them home--uncovering their remarkable history and celebrating their rich heritage that is still very much alive today.
