Episode SGO-410

Montreal
In this episode, we visit four gardens in Montreal, Quebec. At the first garden, a white iron gate opens onto unusual plants collected from around the globe. A stone path winds under a wooden arbor. A 250-year-old oak tree is the oldest tree in the community. Romer Garden is hidden in a village 30 minutes from Montreal and behind a historic home. Under an archway, the backyard grows warm-weather plants like tomatoes. Stone steps lead down to a small lake with a church located across the water. Miral Garden was inspired by a Monet painting. This garden of eight acres has footbridges over a wide stream. Benches are tucked away and a gazebo makes for a quiet spot. There is a formal French parterre garden as well as an Asian garden. La Belle Rivere is a little known public park located just 30 minutes away from the city center. A river runs through the garden, but the trees take center stage. Wide-open grasses make it a perfect place for weekend parties.
