Secret Gardens Of...
Episode SGO-406

Vancouver
In this episode, we visit four gardens in Vancouver, British Columbia. The first garden is at a private home and reflects the owner's prairie roots with different grasses. In the back of the home, a pond and a waterfall keep company with the many different color of grasses. Scruncy mounds of blue fescue look like a gathering of UFOs. The next garden found at a hacienda home seems more Californian than Canadian. A sequestered courtyard hides what appears to be a window but is really a mirror. The garden overlooks the water and has a great view of the city and mountains beyond. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden hides behind a great white wall. This garden was created by Chinese craftsmen and modeled after a garden designed for contemplation. A pavilion called Ting has a curved shape that symbolizes the phoenix. The last garden is a tropical garden located high in the hills of North Vancouver. A fern has not changed since the time of dinosaurs. In the back, tropical and native plants surround a pool. A staircase leads to a sunken garden.
