Guest Anna Griffin reveals a way to create a dramatic memory book using a single color in different hues.

Materials:

paper in various shades of one color
vellum
scissors
adhesive
ribbon
oval frame
hole punch

Steps:

  1. Divide pages in half. One side will be used for a story, and the other for scrapping.

  2. Cut three strips of paper into 1/2" x 12" strips.

  3. Cut one of the strips in half making it 6" long.

  4. Using the strips of paper, assemble a frame on the left side of one sheet of paper. Miter the corners.

  • Cut a sheet of vellum to 4-1/4" x 10-1/2", and then mount to page. Use the vellum for journaling (figure A).

  • Using a different shade of paper cut two sheets into four 6" x 12" pieces.

  • Adhere sheets back to back.

  • Cut two sheets of another shade in half.

  • Adhere sheets back to back.

  • Score the paper about 3/8" from the left side (figure B), and then punch three holes to the left of the scored area.

  • Cut two 6" x 12" sheets of vellum, and then score and punch holes down the left side.

  • Assemble pages together alternating designs and shades (figure C), placing vellum between each.

  • Insert ribbon into the top and bottom holes, bringing both ends through the center hole.

  • Tie a bow in the center (figure D).

  • Place a photo in an oval frame and adhere to the cover.

  • Adhere memory book to the right side of the page.
