Adding Birth Announcements to a Scrapbook

Baby books aren't the only place to add your child's birth announcement. You can also add a copy to your scrapbook and embellish as desired.
Have you cut your child's birth announcement from your local paper then wondered what to do with it? Guest Jan Lanoy explains how to display it in a scrapbook while keeping the original preserved.

Materials

scrapbook paper
white cardstock
alphabet stickers
baby-themed stickers
clear photo corners
photo mount
archival mist

  1. Make a photocopy of the newspaper clipping or spray archival mist onto the original to neutralize the acid, which keeps the paper from turning yellow.

  2. Arrange the newspaper clipping (figure A) and photos on the page.

  3. Mount the clippings with mounting tape and use photo corners to secure the photos to the page.

  4. Add a journaling block, and journal about the day your child was born.

  5. Spell out your child's name using alphabet stickers (figure B).

  6. Finish the page by adding baby-themed stickers around the photos and birth announcement.
