Matt Fox and Shari Hiller

Since Room by Room first debuted in 1994, Matt Fox and Shari Hiller have been the writers, designers, builders and hosts of the popular decorating show. Both graduates of Kent State University, Hiller practiced interior design in Cleveland area homes, offices, country clubs and restaurants following college; Fox pursued a career in theater in the San Francisco area while teaching drama and painting houses during the summer. By the late '80s their careers led them to Sherwin-Williams, where Fox was a sales representative on the West Coast and Hiller was the manager of color marketing at the company's headquarters in Ohio.

When the two finally met in 1991, Hiller knew she'd found the person to help her co-create a show that she'd been thinking about for some time. Today, as well as working on Room by Room, the pair make personal appearances and also write a weekly column that appears in more than 100 newspapers.
