Modern Courtyard
Homeowners Dan and Sue have a strong sense of style, but a very small yard. Landscape designer Kathleen Seydow steps in to bring style, color and form. A bluestone patio makes use of the French doors and provides entertaining space. The dying shrubs next to the house are replaced by easy-to-maintain crushed granite and stylish planters. Additional planters will flank the stairs to the patio, and recycled barn wood is used to conceal the air conditioner. On the other side of the yard, the rustic theme continues with a barn wood door to fill in part of the hole in the hedge.
