Electric Shaver, Portable Walkie Talkie, Timed SprinklerThe first electric shaver was introduced by the Remington Company in 1937. Before this razor even took off, they improved on the design by adding a second blade for a closer cut. The electric razor went cordless in 1960, when rechargeable batteries were added. Then, 15 years later ,a flexible foil made for a softer touch to the skin, but the original design for this shaver is still used today. Next, though transmitting by radio started in the late 1800s, communicating between two portable radios didn't happen until 1937. That's when Canadian Donald Hings invented the first portable field radios for airplane pilots flying in the mountains of northern Canada. As engineers learned to make things smaller, walkie-talkies followed suit. By the mid 1960s walkie-talkies fit in the hand. Finally, watering a lawn before automatic sprinkler systems were invented meant dragging a hose around. Then, around 1912 systems like the Pluviette turbine lawn sprinkler were invented. In the early 1960s an answer was found. That's when the first electrically controlled sprinkler valve was put on the market. This system used a switch to control the water pressure on both sides of a valve.
