Hart House and More
Come along as we take a look at three of the most unusual houses in the country. First, Alexandra and Andrew Markow in Prospect Heights, Ill., bucked the trend of boring traditional-style houses in their neighborhood by tearing down the old and building an wildly angular structure the neighbors call "the spaceship." Not only does the roof have multiple angles, the whole place is painted in vibrant Crayola colors. Inside, there's a suspended fireplace that rotates (called the Fire Orb), a see-through bridge and a passageway that connects the kids' rooms. Next, in the heart of "Old Southwest Reno," is one of Nevada's best-known historical houses, The Hart House. Designed in 1937 to resemble a Japanese pagoda, this place features a koi pond, Oriental "full moon" doorways, an octagonal living room and a spinning bed. We wrap inn Bisbee, Ariz., where someone actually took dynamite to the side of a mountain and blasted themselves an awesome 3,000-square-foot cave-like house.
