First, in Greendell, N.J., we visit a house that looks cylindrical on the outside, but inside, is a series of exposed wooden arches that create a dome — one of the strongest forms of construction. Now the homeowners don't have to worry about earthquakes anymore. Next up we take a look at a wildly decorated house in Seattle that is owned by artist Kelly Lyles. A herd of rocking horses graze in the front yard, while a group of gnomes party nearby. The studio around back is covered with hubcaps, and there's a five-foot tall coffee cup in front of that. The last place we see is a modern farmhouse in San Francisco. The homeowners liked the dilapidated old farm buildings that were on the property when they bought it a few years ago, but they weren't salvageable, so they had Ace Architects build a brand new ultra-modern barn inspired by the old one. It looks like a barn and silo on the outside, but there's little to remind you of that on the chic ultra-mod interior. The silo actually contains the spectacular spiral staircase that connects the three levels of this luxurious home. From the barn-size vaulted living room on the top floor to the sauna-equipped guest suite on the bottom, there's not a hay bale to be found.
