Expand a Kitchen With Color
Harmonizing cabinetry color and wall color is a great way to make a small space seem visually larger. This is not an inordinately large kitchen, so it would have been important to me to make the space seem as large as possible. Although the wall color and cabinetry color do not have to match, it would visually expand the space to have them in the same tonal range so that there was not so much contrast between the two.

Of course, in very large kitchens, this is not necessarily an issue. Another trick would have been to take the wall color and cut it by a quarter with white paint to cover the ceiling. This has the effect of visually diminishing the line between the wall and the ceiling, allowing the space to feel vertically more expansive.
