As a child, Bridget Savereux knew instinctively that she had a passion for design. Why else would she have spent hours rearranging her bedroom furniture, painting her walls the perfect shade of pink and choosing her dream bed linens while other kids played video games? As she grew up, Bridget discovered other interests and pursued a varied career path before settling once again on design. At age 20, she moved to Los Angeles to tackle an acting career. Then in 1999, she returned to Vancouver, took several courses in broadcast journalism and opened the first organic raw food cafe in Canada called RAW Cafe with her sister and mother. After three years of hard work, the group sold the restaurant. In 2001, she moved to Toronto to work in television once more.
However, throughout this time, Bridget's design penchant was the one constant and her friends knew it. Several bought new homes around the time Bridget returned to Vancouver in 2002, and they did not hesitate to call her for design advice. With that experience under her belt, she took the leap in 2002 and began designing residential and small commercial properties for a profit with the encouragement of her mother, Maureen Powers. That same year, she began taking courses in interior design from the British Columbian Institute of Technology.
In 2005, she made the scary commitment of opening her own design company Balance 3 Living Design Mind Body Design and, even scarier, doing it with her mother. Bridget's love of clean, contemporary interiors complements her mother's passion for eco-friendly spaces. Bridget's strength in the company lies in her ability to project manage every aspect of a design project. Bridget believes the key to a successful design career is to be diligent, dream big and be flexible, but most importantly, listen to your client.
The pair also works with Dekora, Canada's leading staging company, to stage homes for the real estate market. They enjoy the challenge of taking on an empty space and giving it the authentic feeling of a "home" in sometimes less than 72 hours. Watch them in action on HGTV's new series The Stagers.
