Newfoundland
Newfoundland is called "The Rock" and it's not difficult to see why. Rising from the Atlantic Ocean and buffeted by galeforce winds most of the year, it's not a place most flower hunters would set their sights on. But Tarrant is no ordinary flower hunter. He's in search of spring and he's learned that this island is home to a score of wild orchids, the most beautiful of which is the magnificent and endangered "Queen of the Orchids." He begins his journey in the blustery capital of St. John's, then heads to the rugged West Coast. Through barrens and bogs, past fishing boats and hungry moose, his search takes him from one side of the province to the other. Finally, fighting the bugs and the rain, he heads into Gros Morne National Park. There, tucked behind reeds in a boggy area, he finds her, blooming her heart out.
